Fill it with whatever you like. The possibilities are endless.

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (1/4 ounce) yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2+1/2 cups flour all purpose
  • 2 tablespoons corn meal
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper diced
  • 1/2 cup onion diced
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/4 pound pepperoni sliced
  • 1/4 pound canadian bacon sliced
  • 6-8 slices provolone cheese
  • 1/4 pound italian sausage cooked, crumbled
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 tablespoons water

Directions:

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water and add sugar.
  2. Let yeast sit about 10 minutes until it is good and foamy.
  3. Stir in salt, oil and flour until blended.
  4. Beat vigorously 20 strokes.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, removed the dough from the bowl and kneaded it until it is no longer sticky.
  6. Spray another bowl with cooking spray.
  7. Place the dough in the greased bowl, turning dough to coat all sides.
  8. Cover the dough bowl loosely with plastic wrap sprayed with cooking spray.
  9. Place the bowl of dough in the oven with the oven light on, DO NOT turn on the oven.
  10. Place a bowl of hot water in the oven on the rack beneath the dough.
  11. Allow dough to rise 15-20 minutes, and remove from oven.
  12. Preheat oven to 400F.
  13. On a floured surface roll the dough out into a 13x9 inch rectangle.
  14. Place dough onto a lightly greased baking sheet sprinkled with corn meal.
  15. Saute green peppers, onions, and mushrooms in 1 tablespoon butter until almost tender.
  16. Spread pizza sauce lightly on dough leaving a 1" edge on all sides.
  17. Lay pepperoni and canadian bacon over sauce.
  18. Spread pepper, onion and mushroom mixture over meat layer.
  19. Layer provolone cheese over veggie mixture.
  20. Spread italian sausage over provolone.
  21. Top with mozzarella cheese.
  22. Start with the long end of the dough and roll loosely towards the other long end, pinch dough to form a seal.
  23. Pinch short sides of dough together at ends to seal.
  24. Place roll, seam side down.
  25. Cut 4 small slits across the top of the dough to vent.
  26. Bake 15 minutes.
  27. Blend egg white with water, beat lightly with fork until blended.
  28. Using a pastry brush, brush dough with egg wash and bake an additional 5 minutes or until golden brown.
