This dish reminded me of a boiled dinner with a bit of a kick. The flavor from the sausage and bacon is incorporated into the potatoes. I served this dish with Irish Soda Bread with Raisins. I will definitely be making this again.

The four basic food groups: meat, pasta, sauce and cheese. You can't really go wrong when a recipe has all four of those as ingredients. These were great, I added some fresh diced mushrooms as well and sauteed them with the garlic. Next time I make these I would use more sauce in the meat mixture.

I first had pierogies about 10 years ago when my mother-in-law made them. Her family drizzled browned butter over them before serving. I was not really fond of the browned butter, I thought they would be better with white gravy over them. I guess I've been living in the Midwest for too long. These are pierogies without all the work. The onions are a must if you are an onion fan.

I really liked this dish. I am very fond of cabbage rolls, but they take so much time to make. This dish I will make over and over again. It taste exactly like cabbage rolls without the labor. I used turkey instead of beef and I had a head of cabbage in the freezer that I was dying to use. I chopped the cabbage while it was still frozen.
